AI Agents UK Adoption: What the 2025 Survey Measured

The UK government’s AI adoption study provides a dated snapshot rather than a live counter of agent use. Reading its percentages requires keeping the fieldwork period and the relevant respondent group together.

AI agents UK adoption and the survey base

The study used 3,500 telephone interviews conducted between February and May 2025. Among businesses already using AI, 7% reported agentic AI and 85% reported natural-language processing and text generation. These are percentages within the adopter group, not of all UK businesses. The methodology also warns that speaking to a person with technology oversight does not capture shadow AI use.

Planning and Implementation Timelines

Among respondents planning to adopt agentic AI, the study reported 24% expecting adoption within the next year and 24% in more than two years. Those are intentions relative to the survey period. They are not a fresh forecast from today, and the study’s suggested explanations for longer timelines do not prove a single cause for each business’s decision.

Operational Integration in Early-Stage Companies

The linked TechCrunch page promoted a planned conference session about delegating work to agents and allocating human responsibility. It is useful as an example of questions being discussed by event organisers, rather than as post-event evidence that the advertised outcomes occurred or a representative study of UK employers.
